Fujitsu cheers spike in UK storage sales
Vendor claims ETERNUS range is gaining traction after local sales grew by nearly a third
Fujitsu claims the volume of storage it shipped in the UK in terms of capacity more than doubled in in six months to March
Fujitsu claims it is fast becoming viewed as a serious player in the storage arena after seeing a big spike in storage sales.
According to the vendor, its storage revenues hiked by “close to a third” year on year in the six months to March. The volume of storage it shipped in terms of capacity more than doubled in that period, it said.
Fujitsu also took a sideswipe at rivals Sun, IBM, HDS and Pillar, claiming it beat all four in a recent Storage Performance Council benchmark test.
Sean Haffey, storage business manager for Fujitsu UK & Ireland, claimed that more customers were becoming aware of Fujitsu’s ETERNUS solutions, leading to more enquiries and sales.
He also said the vendor would throw more resources behind this part of its business.
“The fact that we have grown our UK sales at a time when the overall market has declined is very encouraging and as the economic situation improves, we’d expect to see a further acceleration,” said Haffey.
“We have a really strong focus on storage within our business now and we’ll be actively engaging and making more resources available as we add to the ETERNUS range over the coming year.”
