Ampito Group unveils bullish revenue targets

Former Matrix Communications executives unveil aggressive growth plans

Three former Matrix Communications executives have unveiled aggressive growth targets for the coming year with Ampito Group, their hybrid distributor and integrator.

The firm, which was founded by Manny Pinon, Anil Madhok, Kevin Pask (all formerly of Matrix), and Rob Samuel, has already turned over £2.1m in its first 12 months of trading, according to sales director Pinon, who spoke exclusively to CRN.

“It has been great to turn over this much in our first 12 months of trading,” he said. “Our growth plan is to hit £20m within the next five years and we want to take vendor and VAR partners on this journey with us. We do not intend to build up our business and then just sell it on, we want a sustainable business for the long term.”

Pinon said that despite the firm having both integrator and distributor elements, there was little chance of conflict.

“Ampito Group contains four businesses: the system integrator Vanix; the telco arm; the support arm; and distributor Manilma,” Pinon said. “The integrator and distributor business units will be different – they will not stock or sell to the same vendors.”

He added that Vanix sells Extreme and Juniper products directly to end-users, and Manilma will only distribute emerging technology vendors’ products to resellers.

Neil Ledger, co-founder of emerging technology distributor VADition, and former co-founder of distributor equIP, which was acquired by Matrix in 2005, said: “We have worked with new technologies and emerging vendors for more than 15 years. In that time we have seen the IT industry mature as technology becomes more aligned to business objectives.

“The fact that we are seeing a spate of new distributors that want to bring emerging vendors into the UK validates the market opportunity.”
