SCC hails Caeser

Pan-European integrator joins government-led initiative to encourage corporate social responsibility

SCC has continued its green quest by signing up to an online toolkit that measures a firm’s corporate social responsibility.

The UK’s largest independent integrator was introduced to the kit, known as Corporate Assessment of Economic, Social and Environmental Responsibility (Caeser) by one of its own customers, the Home Office.

According to SCC, the Home Office is keen that its supply chain is made up of responsible businesses. Caeser helps firms self assess the impact they are having on society and the environment.

Tracy Westall, public sector sales director at SCC, said: “As a company, we have long strived to ensure sustainable business practises and as a supplier to the government, we are obviously keen to support its efforts to help meet targets on key issues, such as CO2 emissions.

“However, without a proven structure in place, it has been difficult to illustrate our approach. The introduction of Caeser helps to formalise this and to set a benchmark that has never been in place before now.”

Westall added that SCC is hoping its own suppliers will join the Caeser club.

“Since being introduced to Caeser we have accelerated a need to challenge our own suppliers around sustainable development," she said. "We will be implementing Caeser across our own supply chain to highlight any potential risk areas around reputation and/or operation.

“We are proud to be one of the first companies accredited to provide services through the Catalist and Sprint frameworks; this will benefit local and central government organisations that are looking to buy products and services from us as well as giving that extra assurance on our own procurement policies.”
