Resellers call for more help with card fraud

Network Alliance latest target of 'card not present' scam

Reseller Network Alliance has called for more co-ordinated anti-fraud processes after becoming the latest target of 'card not present' fraudsters, when someone attempted to buy products with a bogus credit card.

Adam Woolhouse, managing director of the VAR, said there were many similarities to the scam that sent Addictivity, its Reading neighbour, out of business. "We noted that a guy with the same name called a few times requesting delivery dates," he said.

He contacted the police and the credit card company but was not satisfied with their response. "Firms like us are going out of business and there doesn't seem to be anyone that can help," he said.

Glenn Morrisson, managing director of distributor Upgrade Options, said: "The police say they have not got the resources and the credit card companies are not too concerned because they don't have to pick up the tab."
