Computer 2000 rejigs UK arms

Quality of service is key as boards of Frontline and Datech 2000 are united into a single entity

Computer 2000 has rejigged the organisational structure of UK subsidiaries Frontline and Datech 2000, creating a four-strong supervisory board to improve the quality of service and provide one coherent message.

Previously, the Frontline and Datech 2000 boards operated independently and held separate meetings. The board meeting was looked after by the joint MDs of both distributors, Graeme Watt and Alan Mack. But as part of the changes, Watt will assume total control of the group as group MD, while Mack will be deputy MD with added responsibility as group marketing director.

The other two members of the supervisory board will be Andy Gass, group finance and operations director, and Paul Cook, group sales director at Frontline. Cook?s responsibilities have been expanded so that he will look after technical support, which has been handled by a number of the distributor?s divisions.

Cook will also head the recently formed customer focus unit. Watt conceded that the distributor had previously had a fragmented approach to customer service as no one was solely responsible for it.

?It is better to have a service that resellers want rather than offer everything and spread yourself too thin,? said Watt. ?Quality of service is what is going to differentiate distributors in the future.?

The supervisory board will meet monthly to formalise the strategy for both UK operations, to provide the future direction for both distribution arms at operational level.

David Clark will become group marketing director, as the distributor is looking to triple its marketing spend in its next financial year, starting in September. The heads of the 10 business units of Frontline and Datech will be split into five so that Mack and Frontline commercial director Julian Klien will share the responsibility. The executive board, comprising 11 members of Frontline and Datech 2000, remained unchanged.
