Two new senior posts at Microsoft and CA

Both new appointments set to continue focus on channel

Management changes were afoot at two top vendors last week with both Microsoft and CA announcing new senior-level appointments.

Scott Dodds was hired as general manager of small and medium solutions and partners (SMS&P) division at Microsoft. The appointment is effective from 1 January.

Dodds, who previously ran Microsoft’s northern European OEM division and spent seven years as general manager of UK channels at Compaq before it was acquired by Hewlett-Packard, is set to replace Natalie Ayres who is leaving the software giant at the end of the year to ‘pursue other interests’.

Ayres and Dodds, will be spending the next six weeks working on the transition.

Gordon Frazer, managing director of Microsoft UK, commented: “Scott has a proven track record in forging meaningful and rewarding relationships with both customers and partners and I am very confident that he is the right leader to drive further success for Microsoft in the SME and partner space.”

Separately, CA appointed a new UK and Ireland country manager to drive sales in the region.

Mark Bridger, formerly responsible for CA’s southern African and Ireland business, will take over the reins with immediate effect. He will report to Alan Banks, who has recently been promoted to vice-president and area manager northern EMEA.

In a statement to CRN, Bridger said he was very positive about working with resellers.

“I’m excited about working with the channel moving forward, not only by strengthening the relationships we have with partners, but by also ensuring that they are able to provide solutions to meet the challenges of their customers.

“The recent acquisitions we have made really play into the hands of our channel partners and enable them to go to market with a strong CA proposition,” he said.
