Fortinet unveils FortiGate-3600A

Appliance is intended to help enterprises boost performance and security by up to 50 per cent

Unified Threat Management (UTM) vendor Fortinet has claimed its latest appliance is the fastest in the industry and will help its partners increase revenue.

Earlier this year, Fortinet revealed it was drawing up a list of 45 key VARs in the UK to help it target the high-end marketplace (CRN, 10 August). The FortiGate-3600A, which features dual-core processing power, is the vendor’s first major launch since its high-end assault. It will help enterprises boost network performance and security by up to 50 per cent, Fortinet has claimed.

Phil Keeling, UK and Ireland country manager at Fortinet, said the appliance is proving popular in finance institutions and universities.

“It sets a new standard for integrated multi-threat solutions and puts ‘bolt together’ solutions another step behind integrated UTM hardware solutions in the marketplace,” he said.

Matt Knowlton, channel manager at Fortinet distributor Fresh Egg, said: “Fortinet’s earlier appliance, the FortiGate-3600, was also a very good product. The 3600A offers 50 per cent better performance levels than that so we are confident of good take-up.

“As Fortinet’s master distributor in the UK, we feel the 3600A will definitely benefit the channel and is offered at a very attractive price.”

Knowlton added that Fortinet is a proactive vendor partner.

“It always keeps its finger on the pulse and never lets anything stagnate as some of its major competitors do,” he said.
