ViewSonic aims for top five

Vendor declares intention to scale the ranks of the UK audiovisual and PDA markets

Audiovisual (AV) vendor ViewSonic has said that it intends to rocket through the ranks of the UK AV and PDA markets and achieve a top-five slot.

The firm, which manufactures LCD screens, projectors, tablet PCs and Pocket PCs, has admitted that it does not have enough brand recognition in the UK.

"We are about number 30 in the UK, so we have quite a bit of work to do," said Keith Talbott, the vendor's UK sales director.

ViewSonic recently expanded its distribution channel, signing Northamber to focus on the PDA, tablet PC and monitor markets, and Splash AV and Microtronica to develop the projector and AV side of its business. It already works with Ingram Micro and Ideal.

Talbott said that ViewSonic will be looking to take on more resellers now that it has the distribution structure in place.

"The business growth we have seen, in terms of displays, has been above industry trends. ViewSonic is a key vendor for us," said Michael Farrah, senior business manager at Ingram Micro.
