Rad swells UK channel

Israeli vendor Rad Data Communications is finally making moves to open up its UK channel, more than a year after it first announced its plans to increase the numbers of its resellers.

The company has been established in the UK for two and a half years, but for the past 12 years it has been selling the majority of its products through GADC.

Philip Jerichower, European sales director at Rad Data Communications, said: 'GADC hasn't really done anything for over a year, but it is good in the carrier market.'

Jerichower admitted that the company should have been working on the UK channel market years ago.

'We were complacent about the UK market because we were concentrating on the rest of the world and making inroads in developing markets,' he commented.

'We had severely underestimated the size of the market and didn't do as well as we could have done.'

Grant Notman, UK general manager, who joined Rad Data Communications from Racal Data Communications in May this year, said he was involved in discussions with resellers and would be looking to sign up more partners.

'It would be great to find a reseller to take all the products, but we are also looking at companies like GADC which have a specific strength,' he said.
