Visual Insights sees business potential in resellers

Ebusiness analysis software developer Visual Insights will launch in the UK this month and is looking to sign up a number of resellers.

The US-based vendor, formed in 1997 by Lucent Bell, was bought last year by Visible Decisions. It is the first time the company has tried to enter the European market.

Its product, a suite of real-time Web monitoring tools called eBizinsights, is designed to identify usage trends within a Web site. The product will initially target SMEs, while enterprise versions, XL and CS, will be released later this year.

Michael Tatelman, vice-president of marketing at Visual Insights, said: "Our major rival in this area is Webtrends, but they sell the majority of products direct. By putting over 95 per cent of our business through the channel we believe we can exploit an untapped market. Resellers have the knowledge base and the skills to exploit many more opportunities than we can if we go it alone.

"We are doing deals with three distributors in the UK and we hope to have 25 resellers signed up by the end of the year."

Tatelman also said the company is particularly keen to work with Microsoft solution providers because its CS version is specifically for Commerce Server 2000.

Neil Coster, Visual Insights's marketing director, said the company has a Web-based accreditation programme in place and offers interactive training sessions over the Internet. "Basic classes will last for about three hours, while advanced will take a day. Accredited partners will get offers on product discounts as well as technical, marketing and sales training," he said.
