HP promises to relinquish SMEs
Vendor to focus on direct relationships with larger organisations
Hewlett-Packard (HP) has reaffirmed its commitment to the channel with a pledge to stay out of SME sales.
The vendor, which last week outlined its direct strategy, plans to maintain its combination of direct and indirect sales, with "SME and mid-market customers addressed only through partners". It intends to focus on direct relationships with larger organisations, "specifically customers who have bought direct before".
Dave Poskett, director solutions partner organisation at HP, said: "Clarifying where responsibilities lie will make all companies involved better equipped to respond to customers' needs."
Paul Barlow, managing director of VAR Equanet, said: "There have been mixed messages from HP in the past. Any attempts to clarify things will be warmly welcomed by the channel."
