EOL IT becomes CarbonNeutral

Firm supports a windfarm in India to help offset its own C02 emissions

IT recycling specialist EOL IT Services has achieved CarbonNeutral status for its fleet.

The firm which saves thousands of refurbished PCs, laptops, printers and tonnes of other equipment from landfill, claims that the status means that all carbon emissions for their logistics and traffic management have been neutralised to net zero, by offsetting with The CarbonNeutral Company.

EOL IT has chosen to support a windfarm project in India to offset its carbon emissions. The firm’s contribution provides enough power for 13,500 homes and reduces India’s heavy reliance on coal for its electricity.

Richard Parker, managing director of EOL IT Services, said: “Through its activities from the very start the EOL ethos has been about a service that benefits the environment. We were also very aware of the impact of our own activities and that working on a zero landfill policy was not the end of the matter.

“We needed to address the carbon emissions created by our vehicle fleet and we have done that. I am very pleased that the result is that we have been designated carbon neutral in those areas of operations.”

Sue Welland, founder and creative director of The CarbonNeutral Company, said: “Often over 25 per cent of a company’s carbon footprint can be attributed to business travel. Reducing those emissions makes good business sense – for the climate, for the balance sheet and for reputation.

“We are pleased to support the measures that EOL is doing within its company to become more environmentally responsible and actively to tackle climate change.”
