Reborn Relisys brand moves into AV market
Relisys brand given new lease of life by Relisys Digital
Following the demise of monitor manufacturer Relisys (CRN, 23 January), the brand has been given a new lease of life by audiovisual vendor (AV) Relisys Digital, which is now looking to establish a channel.
Adrian Mills, marketing manager at Relisys Digital, was quick to clear up any confusion in the channel surrounding the Relisys name after it entered administration on 12 January.
“Relisys Digital was actually set up in 2005 by Relitec Holdings, the Taiwanese parent company of Relisys,” he told CRN.
“In January, monitors had reached a low point and it was decided that Relisys should go into administration and Relisys Digital would take over and honour the warranties.”
Relisys Digital is marketing itself as an AV vendor and is no longer producing traditional PC monitors.
“Our current portfolio consists of LCDs, plasmas, a Hi-Def Conversion DVD Player, and Windows Based Terminals,” Mills said. “We’re also developing software including digital signage software.”
Midwich and Micro Peripherals are the vendor’s main distributors, but Mills said the company is in talks with “a couple more”.
“We’d also like to recruit more resellers: probably AV resellers and those that can get us into different verticals,” he added.
Lee Baker, divisional manager at Midwich, said: “The sales of Relisys products are building up to the levels they were, but Relisys Digital needs to educate the channel on what happened to Relisys. Some resellers are still a bit nervous.”
Keith Warburton, executive director at the PC Association, said: “Relisys did its best to act responsibly when it entered administration.
“It didn’t leave its customers in the lurch. And the new venture will offer resellers differentiation.”
