Kavado in defiance of threat
Vendor claims web-management system promises good revenue stream for resellers
Web-application security vendor Kavado is looking to ramp up its channel activities in the UK following the launch of its Threat Management System (TMS).
This week the firm unveiled its enterprise-class Defiance TMS product, which it claimed introduces scalable intrusion detection and prevention that works to detect threats, generate alerts and block internal and external attacks to critical data.
Defiance TMS, based on patent-pending 'intelligent escalation' technology, comprises four components: Defiance Monitor, which has been described as the world's first web-application intrusion-detection system, Defiance Gateway, Defiance Management Server and Defiance Security Console.
Vik Desai, chief executive of Kavado, told CRN the product is "channel-friendly".
"Application security is key for resellers. It is not a one-time fix; they need to be involved from day one and should be able to build good revenue streams and customer relationships. This product takes web-application security a major step beyond today's point-application firewall solutions," he claimed.
"Threats are popping up every single week. It can be frustrating for resellers if they are forced to deploy products that are not up to the job. This system is going to give resellers the ability to provide scalable web-application security to large enterprises.
"It will also enable them to deliver professional services around the product and engage in an on-going relationship with their customers."
Desai added that the channel will be a priority for Kavado in the coming year.
"We are very keen to develop and manage relationships with resellers and have every intention of scaling the company in accordance with the channel," he said.
Tony Larks, business development manager at VAR Peapod, said he is confident the product will appeal to Peapod's customers.
"We have been a Kavado partner since the end of June and have closed a number of deals already with its Interdo and Scando products," he said.
"We have had the Defiance solution on beta for a while, and it picked up three hack attempts in the first hour. Already customers are expressing an interest in the monitor and gateway elements of the product.
"It will be a good fit for customers that have high-profile, often-targeted sites, such as public-sector firms and local authorities."
