Avaya opens portfolio to all its distributors

Comms vendor grants all distributors access to full range of products for the first time

Avaya has given all its EMEA distributors access to its entire portfolio, but insists its UK distribution line-up is likely to remain unchanged.

The communications vendor signed Azlan earlier this month to distribute its products in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. But Avaya’s senior director of EMEA channels

Jan Lawford claimed there were no plans to bring the deal to the UK.

Nimans recently acquired fellow Avaya distributor Rocom, but Lawford said her company had no plans to seek new routes to market.

“We constantly review our distribution line-up and expect to continue to see consolidation,” she said.

Rocom previously had access to Avaya’s SME-targeted IP Office range, with Westcon, Nimans and Scansource Communications Europe also working with the vendor in the mid-market. Westcon formerly had sole access to some of the vendor’s higher end enterprise offerings.

Lawford claimed the new deal was a key element of Avaya’s drive to become more channel focused.

Nimans has now attained Diamond Distributor status in the enterprise and systems sales director Phil Adams claimed his firm could now address a much bigger market.

“We had to go through a rigorous assessment of our capabilities,” he added.
