Network Box of delights for SMEs

Security vendor looks for 30 UK resellers to push integrated security appliance to SMEs

Security vendor Network Box is hoping to recruit up to 30 UK resellers to push its integrated security appliance to SMEs.

The product, called Network Box, is managed remotely, and the company has claimed resellers can target the growing SME security market without investing heavily in training.

Network Box integrates anti-virus and filtering software from Kaspersky Lab and SurfControl, proprietary spam protection, and firewall, intrusion detection and virtual private network technology.

Adrian Rowland, UK operations director at Network Box, said: "It's an integrated security appliance which takes six elements of network security onto one box. Each element on its own is quite complex for SMEs and regional or branch offices."

The company is initially recruiting VARs but may consider two-tier distribution in future.

Rowland said the product will suit both security and non-specialist resellers.

"For security specialist resellers, it broadens their appeal to the SME market, to which they wouldn't be able to sell individual components," he said. "Non-specialists can offer a security product without having to invest in training."

London-based voice product reseller AVT Systems, which works with many financial institutions, is the first channel partner to sign up, and is also using the product in-house.

"The service centre approach makes it easier for resellers," said Paul Rimmer, senior account manager at AVT. "The initial sales revenue is there and the product will generate revenue for ongoing maintenance."

The product ranges from an entry-level version for up to 25 users to one for 100 users.
