Zycko on look-out for converged VARs
Distributor seeks resellers to sell its storage packages
Networking and storage distributor Zycko is aiming to recruit convergence resellers to sell its storage packages.
Using Computer Associate's (CA's) BrightStor software as the core component, the firm, which is targeting Cisco resellers, has put together an open storage solution using parts from Emulex, Brocade, Plasmon, Eurologic and StoreAge. It will also provide support and training.
"The Cisco channel is screaming out for the ability to offer storage alongside networking," said Nigel Lambert, marketing director at Zycko.
"Cisco is saying that [VARs] have to partner with Cisco-approved companies to sell its products."
According to Lambert, the packages his company assembles will be open. "By open systems, we mean the operating system. Unlike the OEMs, we put the intelligence in the fabric," he said.
Zycko offers a range of training courses, beginning with a two-day sales training course, followed by pre-sales training, and a five-day 'boot camp' post-sales course for engineers.
"Zycko has been able to put us in touch with a lot of resellers that I knew of but never dealt with," said James Darragh, manager of value channels at CA.
"They're very interested in making markets, developing support and creating their own space."
