Norwood Adam extends IP family
Supplier signs deal with US vendor MCK
Distributor Norwood Adam is offering resellers the chance to implement converged IP networks for customers using traditional circuit-switched telephony.
The supplier has signed a deal with US vendor MCK to allow resellers to sell its EXTender IP gateways.
EXTender is a plug-and-play box which enhances existing private branch exchange or key telephone systems. It translates legacy voice traffic to create an IP gateway that can speak to any phone, according to Manny Pinon, sales and marketing director at Norwood Adam.
The products are targeted at large corporates which have sites around the world. If the box is placed in front of the voice switch it is able to communicate with another switch, even if it uses a different language.
Pinon explained that the device simplifies converged networking and offers resellers a differentiator amid tough market conditions.
"This is the right kind of product in the current economic climate. Resellers can now tell customers they can use this product instead of ripping up their existing networks, because it allows them to deliver solutions on existing infrastructures," he said.
MCK has a global installed base of more than 270,000 ports. Its products are compatible with systems from a wide range of vendors, including Alcatel, Avaya, Ericsson, NEC and Toshiba.
The vendor has said it attaches great importance to identifying the most suitable channel partner in the UK. Norwood Adam was chosen for its pedigree in the convergence space and its experience in creating markets for new technology, as well as its services and support infrastructure, it said.
"We are looking forward to embracing the UK reseller community, working together on joint sales and marketing activities and developing rewarding and profitable business revenues for all involved," said an MCK representative.
Norwood is planning to roll out an accreditation programme with MCK this month. It is set to hold a reseller launch at the beginning of November, and will carry out direct mailing to end users on a reseller's behalf.
