Notebook launches boost Toshiba line

Toshiba has revamped its line of notebooks with the launch of seven new models and wiped 27 per cent off the list price of existing products.

The new range of notebooks is aimed at the multimedia market. The high-end systems incorporate Toshiba's 10-speed CD-Rom drive, unveiled last month, which brings the CD-Rom performance of notebook computers in line with desktop PCs.

Two machines have been added to the low-cost Satellite 200 line, the 200CDS and 200CDT. The Satellite Pro notebook line for professional users has been extended with the introduction of the 430CDS and 430CDT, and the high-performance Tecra 510 series has been bolstered by the 510CS and 510CT models.

Toshiba has also added a 150MHz Pentium notebook to its ultra-slim Portege family.
