Chess completes 21st acquisition
Acquisitive reseller snaps up Adodo Communications
Telecoms reseller Chess has made its 21st acquisition since 2004 and revealed that it will continue to spend at the same rate, if not quicker.
Nottingham-based VAR Adodo Communications is the latest addition to Chess’s arsenal.
David Pollock, chief executive of Chess, told CRN: “I’ve known Tim Glynn, the managing director of Adodo, for 10 years. As a smaller reseller he had been struggling so partnering with us made sense.”
Pollock plans to make another six acquisitions this year and already has two in the pipeline.
“If any telecoms resellers are thinking about selling they’d be foolish not to contact us as we can move very quickly,” he said. “We have the finances and procedures in place.
“Some deals take a year to come to fruition, others are much quicker. We’ve learnt to keep it simple and make it very clear to the company in question how it will work.”
Robert Bamforth, principal analyst at Quocirca, said: “There is still a lot of consolidation to happen in the telecoms channel – the catalyst is convergence. Providing Chess can amalgamate and aggregate the services of all its various acquisitions in a way that makes sense and adds value to customers, then I don’t see why it can’t continue making acquisitions.”
