Overland Storage has issued a war cry to rival NetApp by announcing an aggressive channel campaign for its SME SnapServer portfolio.
The move follows the recent announcement from NetApp that its S Family/S550 systems will no longer be available for quoting and sale.
Overland’s campaign will target former users of the S Family - previously known as StoreVault.
David Spate, sales director for Northern EMEA at Overland, said that he was “quite frankly stunned” that NetApp would want to disenfranchise customers by discontinuing the range.
Julie Parrish, vice president of worldwide channel sales at NetApp said the vendor will now focus its SME efforts on building out its FAS2000 platform.
“We believe this product platform consolidation will offer our channel partners the opportunity to sell a more market-competitive set of products based on NetApp’s unified storage architecture,” she said.
Andy Hardy, managing director for international sales at vendor Compellent, said:“These decisions cause disruption to the channel and mayhem for the customer.”
