Axed staff slam Anglo pay dodge

ATG casualties say Anglo Corporation is making them ?whistle? for back-pay

Ex-Anglo Technology Group (ATG) staff have accused directors of dodging their responsibilities, after a fight to extract back-pay from the firm.

Former ATG staff are in a battle to prove who they were employed by, following the transfer of assets from ATG to Anglo Corporation in January (PC Dealer, 26 February).

According to one former employee, ATG made 12 staff redundant on 14 February ? several of which have not yet been paid. But ATG director Stuart Tidy denied these claims, saying his firm was only accountable for about five redundancies made the following week.

The ex-employee said: ?They are washing their hands of our salaries and redundancies. When they dumped all the liabilities on to Anglo Corporation, it seemed that employees of ATG became employees of AC. We were on AC?s payroll for a month. It looks like we can just whistle for our money.?

In a letter to ATG staff, Tim Harris, joint administrator of Anglo Corporation, disclaimed any responsibility to ATG staff. He wrote: ?I note from the documentation that I have been supplied with that although you work solely for Anglo Technology Group Plc, that you are, in fact, paid by Anglo Corporation Plc, the company over which I have been appointed as administrator. Please note that as far as I am concerned you are not an employee under my control and I therefore have no intention of paying you any sums due to you under your employment contract.?

Administrator Coopers & Lybrand confirmed that there had been confusion about pay but said it was unaware of the number of redundancies made by ATG.
