G30 seals supply deal for Sega kit
Fledgling independent buying group G30 has struck an exclusive deal for its members with Sega and its secondary distributor Gem.
It was understood that details of the agreement, which took place between Tony Adams, chief executive of G30, Paul Donnelly, managing director of Gem and Mark Allera, national accounts manager at Sega, are in the final stages.
An insider disclosed that G30 members will receive discounts and rebates on Sega products - hardware discounts of eight per cent, discounts on software of 26 per cent and a 16 per cent discount on peripherals.
The source added: "There will be a one per cent rebate on all Sega Dreamcast purchases which will be split 50:50 between G30 and its members. This will effectively mean members will receive a 0.5 per cent discount. An extra rebate of up to one per cent will also be given for achieving a hardware/software ratio, but what that ratio target will be is not clear yet."
A G30 insider said: "We have been negotiating for some time with Sega.
We have a deal, but are still waiting for it to put it in writing, but whatever deal it offers us, as G30 grows, the industry will have to sit up and take notice of us."
