Mantix wins manchester contract

Public sector VAR Mantix has won an 18-month contract from Manchester City Council

Public sector VAR Mantix has won an 18-month contract from Manchester City Council (MCC) to design and implement a project management web site based on Microsoft’s enterprise project management software.

The web site forms part of MCC’s Capital Programme, which involves over 700 product and service delivery projects, and which is expected to save the council £270m each year.

The contract is divided into four phases and, although specific details or financial values are still undecided, the initial phase is worth £300,000 and will involve roll-out of the web site to over 2,000 MCC staff.

Jonathan Tunstall, Microsoft solutions director at Mantix, said the first phase also includes the cost of associated Microsoft software licenses. “The site will improve the way MCC deliver projects and policy. The site incorporates our own Enterprise Advantage software modules and will be delivered through Window’s SharePoint at the front end,” he said.

The site will be used by MCC’s own staff as well by outside organisations, to which elements of future projects will be outsourced to. On a construction project, for example, the site would allow online document viewing and drawing mark-ups.

John Lorimer, capital programme director at MCC, said: “We selected Mantix because it offered a robust and innovative solution. It meets our anticipated business needs and represents a low risk.”
