NetApp extends virtualisation guarantee
Storage vendor guarantees 35 per cent reduction in non-NetApp primary storage using NetApp V-Series and de-duplication
Rollason: If we fail to meet the guarantee we will ship the extra storage free of charge
NetApp has extended its Virtualisation Guarantee Programme to customers that already own EMC, IBM, HP and Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) systems.
As an addition to the vendor’s existing Virtualisation Guarantee Programme, launched in September, NetApp is now pledging it can decrease a customer’s non-NetApp primary storage capacity for virtual server environments by 35 per cent using NetApp V-Series and de-duplication technology.
John Rollason, NetApp product marketing manager, EMEA, said: “Because of the current economic climate, everyone wants to talk about efficiency – the bulk of money spent in a deal goes on storage so it makes sense to try to make savings for the customer there.
“If we fail to meet the guarantee we will ship the extra storage free of charge. This offer was also previously for VMware only, but now includes Citrix and Hyper-V.”
The programme now offers the promise of using 50 per cent less storage in VMware, Citrix and Microsoft virtual environments when using NetApp storage compared with traditional storage arrays.
