802 Global pushes into Ireland

Distributor appoints Gavin Duffy as partner manager for Ireland to help facilitate expansion plans

Emerald Isle: 802 Global wants to help Irish VARs build wireless skills

Having appointed a partner manager for Ireland, ambitious wireless distributor 802 Global is moving swiftly to realise its expansion plans following a £1m investment last month.

Gavin Duffy, who will be based in Dublin, joins 802 Global from communications technology firm Electronic Product Services, where he held the post of global sales manager. He has more than a decade's experience in the technology industry and has been tasked with helping IT VARs build their wireless and IP CCTV skills.

The Berkshire-based distributor, which partners with vendors including Meru, Divitas and Verint, was recently boosted by a £1m investment from entrepreneur David Hammond. Managing director Tim Close claimed last month that he wanted to invest some of that money on bolstering headcount and establishing an Irish presence.

“We are delighted to have someone with the experience and skills of Gavin Duffy to strengthen our presence in Ireland," said Close. "We see a great market opportunity for IT and security resellers around our wireless infrastructure and IP CCTV solutions, across many application and technology areas from server to storage, security to networking.”
