Hammer nails Microsoft deal

Software giant extends distribution strategy

Microsoft has appointed Hammer to drive its server-embedded products out to its resellers and OEM customers.

As the only server-only Microsoft Authorised Embedded Distributor in this space, storage specialist Hammer will offer products including Windows Storage Server, System Centre Data Protection Manager and Windows Embedded Server to its European channel.

The software can be licensed and installed independently by an OEM, or Hammer can create an appliance with Microsoft applications pre-installed on Intel hardware.

Mark Kinsell, sales manager for server products at Hammer, said: “An on-site, round-the-clock warranty package, with a guaranteed four-hour response time is also available.

“We plan to broaden the adoption and awareness of Microsoft embedded products in a variety of vertical markets.”

Matthew Stokes, product manager at distributor Blue Solutions, said the appointment would not affect existing Microsoft distributors.

“We are one of the largest SME server distributors in the country and are working closely with Microsoft on a project which will promote servers in this growing area,”
he added.
