Novell unwraps Intranetware

Ailing developer Novell will outline its plans to support Java across its network environment later this month as it unveils its Intranetware OS.

On 17 September, Novell will release details of Intranetware, codenamed Moab. This will feature its Java Server Framework, which includes support for Java virtual machines, Java class libraries, Java utilities and an object request broker for Java Beans. Moab will be released next year.

Novell also plans to release Java Network Framework as part of its Wolf Mountain clustering programme. This framework distributes Java network resources across many servers. Novell?s Java initiative includes providing support for Java APIs across many of its products.

Among other future initiatives is the launch of Groupwise 5.2, which includes native support for Imap 4, dial-up SMTP/ Mime and Pop 3, as well as support for Ldap on both the client and the server.

Further announcements include Border Manager used to control traffic movement to and from internet and intranets.
