Electro-Wide finally forced into liquidation

The administrators of Electro-Wide have been unable to sell off the West Glamorgan-based systems integrator, being forced to put the company into imminent liquidation.

The administrators, Stones Jones, have applied for a winding up order and the company is expected to be liquidated on 9 June, according to Lisa Thomas, insolvency administrator at Stones Jones.

The liquidation move comes after three months of uncertainty for creditors when Electro-Wide collapsed with debts believed to be up to #3 million in February (PC Dealer, 25 February).

Electro-Wide fell into voluntary administration on 23 February, after Salah Mohammed, director of the systems integrator, issued a petition.

The administrators had been required to attempt to keep the company trading and sell it as a going concern, or sell it at a better price than the lower one the assets would redeem once liquidation begins.

However, it has been suggested that the name Electro-Wide will not completely disappear. A representative at Companies House confirmed that a company called Electro-Wide (Wales) Ltd was set up on 1 August 1997.

One of the directors of Electro-Wide (Wales) Ltd is listed as Salah Mohammed.

The company secretary is listed as Anthony Sutton, who is also listed as a director of Kingston Legal Services.

The collapse of Electro-Wide was the main reason for the liquidation of services company Customer Engineering, which ceased trading on 27 February and was liquidated on 12 March.
