SAP launches Regional Solution Centres

Vendor plans to work closer with partners to create SME-focused software

SAP has announced plans to work directly with partners to create SME-focused software, through the development of Regional Solution Centres (RSC).

The RSC, one of which will be in the UK, are designed to enable the German software vendor and its partners to develop software that is "fast and easy to deploy, adaptable to changing business needs and which includes built-in industry expertise".

Nils Herzberg, product and technology group chief operating officer at SAP AG, said: "The new SME Solution Centres will unite the expertise of SAP and our partners to help more midsize enterprises leverage best practices to compete with agility and become best-run businesses."

The vendor claimed it, with the help of partners, aimed to create over 650 different applications worldwide for a plethora of industries, such as the public sector and professional services.

RSCs have also been designed to provide coverage and support for partners across SAP's entire operating region.

Bob Anderson, research director at analyst Gartner, said: "Creating regional teams to focus on specific market and industry opportunities will help meet the growing market demand as SMEs increasingly seek to gain competitiveness through effective use of IT."
