CollabNet eyes up new software VARs

Vendor launches programme to build up UK channel for its internet-based applications

Software development vendor CollabNet has launched a new channel programme to recruit software resellers and fuel UK growth.

CollabNet provides an internet-based application that enables soft-ware developers to work on the same project in a team spread across several different locations.

Bas Nijjer, director of UK sales at CollabNet, said: “A team can be geographically distributed and CollabNet can offer them a web-based platform that enables them to work together. Developers are always involved in email and forum-based communications about their project.”

Nijjer said CollabNet has sold direct to large enterprises, but as software collaboration becomes more mainstream, the firm needs a channel.

“We do not want to put a figure on how many partners we want. Recruitment will be taken one step at a time. The ideal reseller will have expertise in the software development space, either through reselling or offering consultancy,” he said.

Nijjer added that the vendor will target the south of the UK, but plans to expand to into the north, with a possible focus on the Scottish financial market.

“Our set-up requires no hardware, but value-add will be based on resellers’ skill sets, and offering additional services and support. There is a continuous revenue stream from the CollabNet model,” Nijjer said.

CollabNet also provides web-based and hands-on reseller training alongside a marketing programme. Nijjer added that CollabNet will “hold resellers’ hands” for the first few sales cycles to reassure new partners.

Gerry Tombs, sales director at CollabNet reseller Clearvision, was supportive of CollabNet’s plans.

“We are a configuration management company and feel there is a great opportunity to work with CollabNet.

“The relationship has always been constructive and on time. CollabNet has something which is unique and it is heading in the right direction,” Tombs said.
