3Com loses another chief executive

Second chief executive leaves networking vendor in less than a year

3com's chief executive, Scott Murray, has resigned from his post after only a matter of months in the position.

Murray was appointed after former chief executive of the networking vendor, Bruce Claflin, stepped down at the beginning of the year (CRN, 12 January).

Edgar Masri has now been appointed as the new president and chief executive of 3Com.

Eric Benhamou, chairman of 3Com, said: "Scott Murray advised the Board that, with his young family, he was not able to commit to the extended time in China the venture [with vendor Huawei] requires. He therefore believes it is in 3Com's best interest for him to resign at this time, before negotiations begin. The Board respects his decision and thanks Scott for taking steps to bring the company closer to profitability.

Edgar has extensive networking industry knowledge, broad international experience and a track record of success throughout his career. Edgar brings unique skills and experiences that we believe will be of great value to 3Com," added Benhamou.
