Projector sales rocket in 2005
Worldwide sales rise by 17 per cent according to analyst firm
Worldwide projector shipments totalled 4.1 million units in 2005, an increase of 17 per cent on the previous year, according to figures from Pacific Media Associates (PMA).
Shipments for the last quarter of 2005 reached 1.2 million units, almost 20 per cent higher than Q4 2004.
“In 2005, we saw consumer products such as the first pocket projector and instant theatre models with built-in DVDs come to market. We also saw the beginnings of a shift toward even higher resolution,” said Michael Abramson, PMA’s vice-president.
EMEA led the world with about 43 per cent of the industry’s Q4 worldwide shipments last year.
Tracy Barrow, business development manager for audiovisual at Computer 2000, said: “Epson is our best selling projector brand, but we’ve just taken on Lenovo and Samsung projectors for the first time.”
