Netiva hunts UK distributor for intranet applications product

US-based software vendor Netiva is looking for a specialist distributor to help it establish a reseller channel in the UK, as it enters the market for the first time.

The company, which employs about 30 people, has said it needs a reliable value-added distributor to build its profile while becoming established.

It is currently in discussions with several candidates, but has so far refused to comment on any particular favourite. VP Steve Pollock, however, did reveal that he is holding meetings with distributors with a view to appointing one by the end of November.

The company's main product, also called Netiva, allows large corporations to create and deploy custom-built applications, in a language close to Visual Basic. It can be accessed via an intranet, and therefore avoids the need to be installed on individual machines. Applications can be stored and accessed in a similar way to URL sites.

Pollock said: 'It means that the time spent installing an application on a machine is eliminated. This product dramatically reduces both the time and cost for large corporations. It also allows for the fast creation of an application which would usually take at least one or two weeks.'

Netiva boasts a customer base of about 100 companies, many of which are based overseas. The Netiva product sells for $5,000 in the US and a 30-day trial version is available as a download from the company's Web site.
