C2000 sets up system builder support team
Distributor goes for growth in components.
The components division of Computer 2000 (C2000), the UK arm of Tech Data, has set up a systems builder support desk in addition to the company's existing PC builder advice team.
The move is designed to attract a broader array of resellers to C2000's PC division beyond dedicated system builders. The team will support all major brands, and provide logistics, stock holding and credit services.
C2000's existing PC builder team, which provides upgrade advice and market analysis, will remain unchanged and will sit alongside the new support desk.
Rob Epstein, general manager of the components division, said: "We are doing this because we are very serious about building and developing our components business. We must go way beyond basic product knowledge.
"Resellers need to talk to people who speak their language, who can go into more technical detail and help find the right components for their requirements."
C2000 has also agreed to distribution deals with web development software company Macromedia and hardware vendor QDI for its range of motherboards.
In addition, Tech Data Europe has appointed three European vice presidents, all of which are internal promotions.
Traudl Dawidowitsch has become vice president of accounting and controlling, and will be responsible for finance, accounting and logistics.
Jurgen Wendt has been named vice president treasurer with responsibility for European group financing and currency management.
Thomas Jescheck has become vice president of enterprise systems, and will oversee SAP-based systems integration.
