Promethean recruiting to aid interactive sales

Distributor on look-out for channel partners with corporate experience to boost product sales

Manufacturer and distributor Promethean AV is looking for resellers with contacts in the corporate space to sell its range of interactive products, including its new interactive voting system.

Launched at the end of last year, Promethean’s Presentavote integrates with PowerPoint, and uses radio technology to send and receive information from individual handsets to the interactive whiteboard.

Steve Dracup, managing director of Promethean AV Distribution, told CRN: “The corporate sector needs products that are easy to use, because a lot of people are scared of technology. We designed Presentavote to work with PowerPoint, because most people know how to use PowerPoint.”

Currently, a few hundred resellers a month buy from Promethean AV, but Dracup wants to increase this to 500 a month.

“A lot of our resellers are focused on education, so we are looking for VARs with a corporate knowledge and contacts to help us sell our Presenta range of products. We will give resellers training and support, and will also partner with resellers to help them demonstrate the products,” Dracup said.

He added that this kind of technology needs to be demonstrated to sell it to corporates.

“A lot of resellers have the contact base, but they need to do roadshows, and demos because this kind of technology has to be seen,” Dracup said.

Jack McGuigan, a director at audiovisual reseller, Independent Products, said: “We’ve been selling interactive voting systems, including Presentavote, for a while now and demand has gone crazy in the past three or four months. They were largely aimed at the education sector, but corporates have cottoned on to the benefits. We’ve been an early adopter but this year they will really take off.”

Colin Messenger, senior consultant at Decision Tree Consulting, said: “Interactive voting systems are going to be big news this year. They will take off in education first and then in the corporate space.”
