New VAR will focus on storage
Ovedas set up by former director at reseller IT Partnerships
A former director at reseller IT Partnerships has launched his own IT venture. Justin Sutton-Parker has set up Ovedas, a VAR that will focus on storage and mobility.
"Businesses are mobilising their workforces through technology. At the same time storage has become accessible as prices have come down and capacities gone up," said Sutton-Parker.
Steve Pearce, chief operating officer at storage distributor InTechnology, welcomed the arrival of a new VAR.
"Any reseller that is coming to market and offering specialist skills and focus is a good business venture," he said. "Seeing people set up new reseller businesses is a good indication that things are looking up."
Pearce agreed that companies are investing in new infrastructures. "We are coming to the end of the maximum lifecycle and the refresh cycle is happening," he said.
Richard Holway, director at analyst firm Ovum, said: "Anything connected to mobile computing is hot and storage is now a core business tool."
But he warned resellers not to expect a return to the days of 20 per cent growth in the 1990s. "Businesses are buying more products for less money," he said.
