Ramsac taps into smartphone growth

VAR announces Mobile Plus service to enable secure connections with clients' mobile devices

May: Staff now expect 24/7 access

IT consultancy Ramsac has launched a remote support service to establish a secure link with its clients’ mobile devices.

For devices such as smartphones, BlackBerrys and PDAs, Ramsac’s Mobile Plus service is in response to the growing demand for corporate use of these devices, with market watcher IDC predicting that more than 70 per cent of the workforce will connect to corporate networks via mobile devices within four years.

Robert May, managing director and founder of Ramsac, said: “In the past few years, employees have demanded a more constant connection to their offices, and with most companies now using mobile devices to synchronise with the office, staff now expect 24/7 access to their emails, calendars and contacts wherever they are working.

“We have been helping clients with their mobile devices for some time but now with Ramsac Mobile Plus, our consultants get a view of the client’s mobile device on their screens, so they can either talk the client through making changes themselves, or quickly make the changes on the clients' behalf, perhaps while they are off in a meeting so that they are not inconvenienced at all.”

The service enables the VAR’s helpdesk to establish a secure remote connection, when authorised, with its clients’ mobile devices. The connection is then used to troubleshoot issues, set up new email accounts, demonstrate key features, update passwords, upgrade software, or configure mobile office preferences.

May concluded: “With the immediate increases in productivity, and both time and cost savings, Ramsac Mobile Plus is already proving incredibly popular.

“We believe that this extension to our wide range of outsourced IT solutions further enhances the level of support we can offer to businesses in the South East and is a perfect example of how we continue to focus on our mission to “make IT simple.”
