Noxs switches to mainstream

Distributor branches out from niche offerings under new parent company

Noxs is set to morph from a niche into a mainstream security distributor by absorbing new parent Westcon’s entire security portfolio.

Westcon has confirmed its 13 UK security staff, along with contracts with the likes of Check Point and Nokia, will be transferred to Noxs’s UK outpost as part of the ¤53.3m deal that closed last week.

Kay Eggleston, who will continue to head up Noxs UK, said: “This is a huge opportunity for us because we are adding A-brand vendors to our portfolio. But it will not distract us from maintaining our technical expertise and driving new technology into the market.”

Noxs UK expects to hit £18m turnover for 2007, with £8m coming from the Westcon contracts.

David Ellis, director of e-security at rival distributor Computerlinks, said: “Until now, Noxs hasn’t figured too highly on our radar in the UK because it was very much focused on second and third tier vendors. We now expect to compete more heavily.”

Westcon parted company with its UK director of security Scott Duncan last week, but insisted there have been no other redundancies stemming from the merger.
