Realtime gets VIP treatment
Component distributor buys gaming rival
Components and peripherals distributor VIP Computer Centre (VIP) has acquired Realtime Distribution.
Huntingdon-based Realtime distributew gaming components and has alliances with manufacturers including Sapphire, Corsair, VIA and ECS.
VIP has claimed that Realtime will retain its corporate identity and will continue to be run independently by its current directors.
Jatti Sahni, chairman at VIP, said of the acquisition: "Together we have a stronger base of customers and strength of PC component volumes. This will allow an enhanced position in the UK market for both companies."
Mark Reed, managing director at Realtime, said the acquisition was an opportunity for Realtime's business to grow.
"We have recognised that for Realtime to continue to be successful with its niche focus it needs to do it as a part of a larger entity, while retaining its identity as a focused distributor.
"The backing of a larger company such as VIP can provide Realtime the structure and support it needs to become larger and more prosperous over the years to come," added Reed.
