Promethean AV unveils VAR installation unit
Distributor plans to help resellers to meet growth with high-quality installation by qualified engineers
Promethean AV Distribution, part of the Promethean Technologies Group, has introduced a UK-wide installation service for VARs selling its interactive whiteboards and projectors.
Steve Dracup, managing director of Promethean AV, told CRN: “The launch of the new installation service comes at a time when channel business is predicted to grow. Our channel partners can expect the new service to give them more opportunities for increased sales margins.
“Historically the Promethean Group has had a direct sales operation and has built up quite a large installation business as part of that. As the Group is developing a wider strategy, the direct salesforce is focusing more on newer products, such as interactive voting systems, so the distribution side of the business, which I head up, now has access to the installation service.”
Dracup added that a lot of its VARs have experienced problems with using third-party installers. “If it goes wrong it is the reseller that it comes back to,” he said. “Our installation service is not the cheapest on the market, but the quality is guaranteed. Last year our team of 39 direct installation engineers completed 19,000 installations. In addition to our direct engineers, we also have external relationships with other companies which have been authorised and fully trained by us and which we use during peak periods.”
All Promethean installation engineers work to the quality standard ISO 9001:2000.
Colin Messenger, senior consultant at Decision Tree Consulting, said: “It will be useful for resellers to have another service to provide customers. They can be assured of the quality because Promethean’s engineers have completed many installations over the years.”
