Sigma logs growth

Devon-based distributor registers growth in top and bottom line

Sigma's 2009 net profit rose 50 per cent

Distributor Sigma Software Distribution is branching out into new markets after posting revenue and profit growth in its fiscal 2009.

The Devon-based distributor, an independent subsidiary of VAR Grey Matter Group, counts BeCrypt, Mindjet and TechSmith among its key vendor allies and has a base of 400 active dealers.

For the year to 30 June, revenue growth slowed to three per cent, compared with 36 per cent a year earlier, although net profits powered up 50 per cent. The distributor does not divulge exact numbers although its turnover is in the range of £7.5m to £10m.

Managing director Juliet Collis said Sigma was working hard to slash procurement costs for its resellers and is looking to sign up more vendors.

“We are trying to find new publishers that offer good margins and hit a current hot topic," she said. "We have been looking at e-learning and thin client/green IT technology.”
