Historic 18th century clubhouse and grounds are ideal setting for Channel Golf Challenge
With an Indian summer round the corner, there is no better way to take advantage of what will (hopefully) be our late sunshine than with a round of golf at a top-notch course.
Spaces are filling up fast for this year’s CRN Channel Golf Challenge, held on 3 October at the Hertfordshire Golf and Country Club.
The clubhouse is set in an 18th century mansion and the course meanders through ancient grounds once owned by the Knights Templer.
The 6,276 yard, par 70 golf course pays homage to its historic background by using lakes and trees to provide a stern challenge. The club also has a bar and restaurant as well changing rooms.
The CRN Channel Golf Challenge has become synonymous with great golfing, great butties and a great day out for everyone in the channel. Standards of golfing and temper tantrums aside, the day has proved to be an unmitigated success.
The day will begin with the usual coffee and bacon butties in the clubhouse. This is followed by a shot-gun start, which means all golf teams are assigned a starting hole and play their 18 from there. This ensures we all end up back at the clubhouse at the same time for a slap-up dinner and well-deserved beer.
Teams are made up of four people, and we ask for £300 per team
as a contribution towards our costs.
