It's good to talk, HP channel boss says
David Poskett vows to improve firm's communication with partners
Hewlett-Packard?s (HP?s) new UK and Ireland channel chief has promised to "work harder" at partner communication.
Andy Vickers, director of the solution partners organisation UK and Ireland at HP, will be leaving the company at the end of the month, it was revealed last week. David Poskett, currently commercial sales director at HP's imaging and printing group, will take up the channel reins.
Poskett, who has worked at the vendor for 20 years, said: "I am very enthusiastic about the job. The channel is paramount, and we are going to be focused on partners at all levels. We need to get the message across about how we are going to engage with partners and provide real business opportunities.
"I am aware that there are some areas in which we need to work harder, particularly the communication aspect."
Vickers told CRN: "I have enjoyed my time at HP and working with the channel. To have been part of the biggest merger in IT history was tremendous. David is very experienced and knows the channel very well. It will be a seamless transition."
Sue Richards, managing director of HP partner and former Centre of Excellence EBM, agreed that HP must work on communication.
"A lot of partners have invested heavily and are very loyal, but many feel left out of the loop. It would definitely help to be kept informed and to have more meetings with HP," she said.
