Cloud Distribution gets into WLAN with Meraki deal

Distribution start-up signs first cloud-based wireless vendor

Match made in heaven: Cloud Distribution claims the Meraki technology is a "perfect fit for our partner base"

Cloud Distribution has burst into the wireless LAN (WLAN) space by signing up vendor Meraki.

Headquartered in San Francisco, Meraki develops WLAN offerings for the commercial and public sector markets, as well as WiFi products for residential and hospitality buildings. Cloud Distribution is a value-add specialist, set up by former VCOMM head Scott Dobson last year. The Berkshire-based firm specialises in optimisation technologies and distributes vendors including Expand Networks, Panda Security and NeoAccel.

Dobson claimed that the Meraki offering would play well into his firm's reseller base and that he was already fielding a wealth of enquiries.

“Meraki’s cloud-based wireless networking solution is a perfect fit for our partner base,” he said. “We are already seeing massive interest in Meraki’s cloud-based wireless platform and are actively looking for new channel partners to fulfill this demand.”

Meraki's director of worldwide channels Andy McCall said: "Our partnership with Cloud Distribution not only provides a great match with our technology vision, but gives us access to a new, forward-thinking base of partners in the UK.

"Beyond fulfilling traditional WLAN needs like an 802.11n upgrade or simplifying network management, we look forward to connecting with organisations that are already excited about the promise of cloud computing.”
