Wright stars in South Pacific
Geoff Wright, Microsoft UK?s distribution sales manager, is returning to the Antipodes to work at Microsoft?s South Pacific headquarters in Sydney.
Wright has worked for Microsoft UK for six-and-a-half years in a variety of roles. Before his appointment as distribution sales manager in 1995, he worked on a number of account management roles.
He will manage the channel for the whole South Pacific, reporting directly to the recently appointed general manager for the region, Eugenio Beaufarnd.
Wright will be responsible for injecting resources and staff into the region?s channel team, working with an initial team of about eight people, which he expects to increase.
Wright, a New Zealander, commented that he was ?sick of warm beer and wet barbecues?, although he said his return to the UK was ?virtually a certainty?.
Microsoft expects to replace him internally, and will announce the appointment by the end of this week.
Paul Donnelly, managing director of Gem Distribution, said: ?He will be sorely missed, both in business and in friendship.?
