Geforce 7950 GX2 to be sold as single card

Graphics vendor nVidia will give ATI a run for its money

Graphics card vendor nVidia will sell its upcoming, doubled-up, if shorter, Geforce 7950 GX2 cards as a single card. Integrators will be able to buy two cards for use in Quad SLI, but a single card will work on its own. Prices are currently estimated to be around the $600-plus mark and should be announced on 31 May.
Industry watchers have suggested to CRN that nVidia can really give ATI a run for its money here, as it plans to position a two-chip single card against ATI's top-of-the-line Radeon X1900XTX. The Geforce 7950 GX2 card will cost about the same or it even slight more expensive than ATI's, however it will certainly outperform a single-chip Radeon X1900 XTX.
While the card will not be cheap to produce, sources say it sure has all the chance of being the fastest one.
Integrators considering buying two 7900 GTX cards may wish to hold on for two more weeks and buy a two-chip, two-PCB 7950 GX2 for that little bit extra.
