Consentry blasts rivals
Vendor Consentry Networks brought the knives out for rivals Juniper and Cisco as it labelled the switching market ‘boring'.
Consentry’s director for northern Europe, Alex Raistrick, claimed his company’s range of next-generation switches are quicker and easier to deploy than those of its rivals.
“The switching market is buoyant, but boring,” he said.
“People have sweated their assets and need to change them, but there is nothing really exciting out there, hence for a partner it tends to come down to who is the cheapest.”
Juniper Networks recently launched its EX series of switches, which Raistrick claimed had “disappointed the market”.
He also blasted competitor Cisco’s approach to SMEs: “As a company, Cisco does not really care about its small customers. We are much more agile and want to get out there and take this market. We are happy to be disruptive.”
Barrie Desmond, business development manager of Consentry distributor VADition, indicated that the switching market was more interesting following Juniper’s entry.
“Juniper has seen an opportunity to take some of Cisco’s dinner. It has a history of developing good business-grade products so its reputation goes before it,” he said.
