Codian has future ClearVision
Videoconferencing infrastructure vendor comes to the aid of high-definition VC system users making multi-way calls
Videoconferencing (VC) infrastructure vendor Codian has developed technology that it claims can transform poor-quality VC images by up to four times their initial resolutions.
The vendor claimed ClearVision will benefit users of high-definition (HD) VC systems when making multi-way calls.
Users of HD VC systems are forced to view low-resolution video when in point-to-point or multipoint calls with users of standard definition (SD) or enhanced definition (ED) endpoints. ClearVision overcomes this problem by enabling HD end-points to view SD and ED images at up to four times their resolution.
Michele Durban, a representative at Codian, said: “HD is where the VC market is going, but for a business to upgrade all its VC end-points to HD systems in one hit is a considerable investment. ClearVision gives VARs a solution for firms that are not ready to upgrade all of their end-points.”
ClearVision works in conjunction with Codian’s 4500 Multipoint Control Unit (MCU) by using some of the power from the MCU to improve the video stream.
Andrew Smith, senior associate at AV analyst Shen Milsom & Wilke, said: “This latest product will see Codian’s continued rise in the VC market.”
Barry Cross, managing director of Codian’s UK distributor ReView Video, added: “Users can now have mixed environments of old systems and HD systems and experience higher quality picture definitions.”
