New Horizon for TippingPoint
IPS vendor appoints Horizon equIP as second UK distributor alongside Computerlinks
Intrusion prevention vendor TippingPoint has appointed a second UK distributor alongside Computerlinks, in the form of Avnet-owned Horizon equIP.
TippingPoint UK country manager Julian McBride said the move would help the vendor meet growing demand for its products and services. TippingPoint, a unit of networking vendor 3Com, saw global revenues rise 15 per cent to $104.1m in its last financial year.
The appointment comes three months after Horizon equIP parted company with intrusion prevention vendor partner Top Layer (CRN, 13 June).
Top Layer hinted at the time that it would go head-to-head with TippingPoint in the UK via a trade-in programme with new distributor Cohort Technology.
Bruce Hockin, head of business strategy for Horizon equIP said: “There is a widespread growing demand for sophisticated security solutions that enhance security and ease the burden on IT staff. TippingPoint is one of the very few companies that do just that.”
Julian McBride, UK country manager for TippingPoint. “The appointment makes total business sense for us, and we look forward to developing a successful working partnership which will help us to meet the ever growing demand for our products and services.”
